Deck Bracing
Deck bracing provides extra support. Deck bracing essentially uses different bracing systems that works by distributing the weight on to other beams. Deck bracing is often used if your deck is fairly high, over a swampy area or on a steep slope.
Deck bracing is often mandatory as it will reinforce the deck's structure. Deck bracing may or may not be required although many believe it is very beneficial regardless.
Some bracing secures the post to the beam, while others reinforce the post to the post.
Y bracing is probably the most common and it involves attaching wood from both sides of the post to the beam on an angle to form a Y.
Parallel bracing essentially connects a piece of wood from the top of one post to bottom of the next post.
V-shaped bracing connects two separate pieces of wood from the centre of the first post, one going to the top and one going to the bottom of the next post.
X-shaped bracing connects two posts side by side using two boards in the form of an x. The board connects from the bottom of the first post to top of the next and another going the opposite way.
